Opportunity description
The United Nations Development Coordination Office (DCO) is offering a 6-month consultancy opportunity in Amman, Jordan, for 2026 in the areas of data management and analysis, reporting, and digital transformation, within the Regional Office for Arab States (DCO/ROAS).
The consultancy aims to strengthen the quality of regional and national data and improve its use in planning and decision-making by developing databases, producing statistical analyses, dashboards, and reports that support the work of the United Nations across Arab countries.
The consultant will support UN Resident Coordinator Offices and country teams, analyze regional trends and cross-country challenges, and contribute to the development of knowledge management tools. The role will also promote the use of modern technologies and responsible artificial intelligence in data analysis and research.

Duties & responsibilities
Data Management and Quality Improvement: Review and update databases, document data sources, verify accuracy, and improve procedures for data collection, organization, and management.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Develop dashboards, charts, maps, and analytical reports, support results monitoring, and contribute to regional reporting using systems such as UNINFO.
Planning and Innovation Support: Provide comparative analyses across Arab countries, examine shared challenges and opportunities, and explore the use of responsible artificial intelligence in analysis and knowledge management.
Coordination and Knowledge Transfer: Collaborate with UN teams and partners, prepare guidance materials and training templates, organize staff capacity-building sessions, and hand over updated files and systems to ensure continuity of work.
Eligibility criteria
A master’s degree or equivalent in one of the following fields:
Data Management
Information Management
Computer Science
Data Science
Data Analytics
Statistics
Information Systems
Economics
Public Policy
Or another related field
A bachelor’s degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in place of a master’s degree.
At least 5 years of professional experience in data management, data analysis, statistics, business intelligence, information management, or a related field.
Experience in developing and managing databases, dashboards, analytical products, data quality assurance procedures, and reporting systems.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to organize and document data and present findings clearly.
Fluency in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension.
Knowledge of Arabic is preferred.
