The Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is delighted to give the possibility to qualified students, academics and researchers in Armenian Studies to receive a  Short Term Grant to participate in activities related to their field of studies. The grant is intended to encourage academic interaction and exchange of knowledge and ideas. The grant is available throughout the year, and you can receive it if you are meeting and fulfilling the conditions.

 Requirements for eligibility:

Candidates willing to apply for a Short Term Grant for Armenian Studies must be a Master or PhD degree student, or a researcher in the field of Armenian Studies, wishing to attend international seminars, conferences, summer courses and other relevant activities related to his/her research field (the maximum duration of stay is three months). Preference will be given to younger scholars. Applications are evaluated on a case by case basis, as it is the amount and duration of the grants, according to the academic relevance of the proposed event or research trip to the candidate’s topic, his/her merit, the quality of his/her proposal, the international importance of the conference/seminar and the letters of reference.

The Grant:

Successful applicants will receive a grant with an amount that will be based on proposals received, but it shall not exceed 5,000 USD. Note that if you are a researcher in Armenian Studies in Armenia wishing to participate in a conference or workshop abroad, you should apply to the Short Term Conference and in addition to a Travel Grant.

The Foundation’s original purpose focused on fostering knowledge and raising the quality of life of persons throughout the fields of the arts, charity, science, and education. The foundation works as a third-party financing (Grant-making), designing and creating new capacities for dealing with current issues, and supporting innovative projects that generate progress and adaptability to change. As a part of the foundation's direct activities, it stages and hosts many different exhibitions interrelated with their respective focus areas.
