Opportunity description

The Bird and Nature Festival invites photographers to participate in its 2020 International WildBird Photo Competition. The objective is to use photography as pedagogic and artistic support to promote knowledge of birds, and thus promote commitment to their conservation.

Who can participate:

  1. Competition is open to everybody, amateur and professional, of whatever nationality, aged 15 and older.
  2. Each participant will be able to present a maximum of 10 photographs.

Categories of Competition:

  1. Lunchtime: Granivorous, insectivorous, herbivorous, piscivorous or omnivorous, the bird must be feeding, fishing or hunting.
  2. Bird in love: Birds are masters in the art of seduction. (Ex: moments of tenderness, parades, offerings or mating.
  3. Bird over the seasons: Ex: bird facing weather hazards or photographed in a seasonal atmosphere.
  4. The artistic vision of a bird: The creativity of the photographer must transform the mundane into a contemplative and artistic interpretation and offer a new perspective on the bird.
  5. Other flying species: A new category reserved for flying insects (dragonflies, butterflies, bees, etc.).
  6. Category dedicated to 15-17-year-old: (legal age as of Dec. 2nd, 2019 at midnight), and with a unique theme wild bird.

Specifications of eligible photos: 

  1. JPEG format.
  2. Free of margin, frame or signature.
  3. 3:2 ratio
  4. 3,500 pixels on its longest side (the shortest side should be of about 2,333 pixels).

Note that: Registration fee for each submitted photo for over 18-year-old categories is € 2 / photo, and as for 15-17 years-old category participation is free.

Prizes:

  1. A Grand Prix to the overall winner awarded with an amount of €1,500.
  2. A 1st Prize in each category awarded with an amount of €800.
  3. A 1st Prize for the category «Young Photographers» awarded with material endowments.
  4. A Public Prize awarded to the picture which has totalized the more votes from the visitors to the exhibition, endowed by the Festival’s partners.

Each winner will get:

  1. Invitation to the Award Ceremony. It will be offered for 2 persons: 1-night hotel with breakfasts.
  2. A return train ticket Paris-Abbeville-Paris (SNCF) or the equivalent in cash.
  3. A meal with nominated entrants (directors, producers, and photographers).
