<p>IREX sponsors Research Scholars and Short-Term Scholars <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Residencies-and-Exchange-Programs" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>exchange program</strong></a> in various fields in the <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/country/United-States" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>United States</strong></a> by providing a J-1 visa intended to participate in these programs. The program promotes the exchange of ideas and increased mutual understanding between Americans and people from other countries.</p><h3>IREX Objectives of Exchange Visitor Programs<span dir="RTL">:</span></h3><p><strong>IREX facilitates a variety of opportunities for exchange visitors to:</strong></p><ul><li>Collaborate or consult as a guest scientist on long-term or short-term research projects<span dir="RTL">.</span></li><li>Participate in postdoctoral programs, research-based training, or academic seminars<span dir="RTL">.</span></li><li>Build linkages with US research teams<span dir="RTL">.</span></li><li>Teach a course while conducting research at an accredited US college or university<span dir="RTL">.</span></li></ul><h3><span dir="LTR">The Differences between the J-1 Research Scholar and J-1 Short-Term Scholar Categories:</span></h3><ul><li>Research Scholars may participate in research programs in the US for up to 5 years, whereas Short-Term Scholar programs are limited to 6 months maximum.</li><li>To be eligible for a Research Scholar program, a person must not have held any J visa status for any part of the past 12 months; this restriction does not apply to Short-Term Scholars.</li><li>There is a 24-month waiting period to be eligible for a Research Scholar visa after previously participating as a J-1 Research Scholar; repeat participation as a Short-Term Scholar is not limited.</li><li>Research Scholars must be conducting research, consulting, or receiving training in connection with a research project at qualified host organizations. Short-Term Scholars may be involved in research or participate in other academic activities, such as seminars, <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Trainings-or-Workshops" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">workshops</a> or study tours.</li></ul><h3>Eligibility Criteria:</h3><ul><li>Applicant must be a research scholar, scientist, or person of similar background who can demonstrate academic credentials and research experience and/or contributions in a specific research field.</li><li>Applicant must be invited to participate in a visiting research program (conducting research, observing, or consulting on a project) in the applicant&rsquo;s field at a qualified host organization.</li><li>Applicant must possess sufficient English-language abilities to live in the US, engage with Americans, and be successful in the research exchange program.</li><li>Applicant must not be a candidate for a tenure-track position or intend to remain in the US beyond 5 years.</li></ul><h3>Organizations IREX Works with:</h3><ul><li>Eligible organizations include research institutions, museums, libraries, post-secondary accredited academic institutions, and similar institutions.</li><li>Prospective host organizations must articulate to IREX their ability to host exchange visitors and offer a stimulating, mutually beneficial research program.</li><li>Site visits may be required at the application stage or during the program.</li><li>Host organizations must provide opportunities for exchange visitors to experience US culture by inviting them to local activities such as holiday celebrations, sporting or arts events, or community volunteering.</li></ul><h3>Services Offered by IREX:</h3><ul><li>Preapplication assessment of eligibility for participation.</li><li>Streamlined application system with option for expedited processing.</li><li>English-language fluency screening.</li><li>Issuance of Form DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility) to approved applicants.</li><li>Program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting required for federal compliance.</li><li>Resources to support exchange visitors&rsquo; J visa application and transition to the US<span dir="RTL">.</span></li><li>Dedicated staff to respond to immigration questions of host organizations and exchange visitors.</li><li>Visa sponsorship of eligible family members of exchange visitors.</li><li>24-hour emergency support for exchange visitors.</li></ul><p><strong>See more available <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/PhD">Ph.D. scholarships</a> on For9a</strong></p><p><strong>See more available<a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Residencies-and-Exchange-Programs">&nbsp;exchange programs</a> on For9a</strong></p>
