Participate in Hippocrates Young Poets Contest and Win Cash Prize Up to £500

Hippocrates Initiative is offering 2021 Hippocrates Young Poets Prize for Poetry and Medicine for young poets aged 14-18 years from anywhere in the world. With £500 for the Young Poets Award, the 2020 Hippocrates Young Poets Prize for Poetry and Medicine  is one of the highest value poetry awards in the world for a single poem by a young poet. 

Competition Rules:

1. The Hippocrates Prize for Poetry and Medicine is an annual international award for an unpublished poem on a medical subject. 
2. Poems must be no more than 50 lines in length and not have previously been published in any form. 
3. They must be by a living poet, written in English and should not be translations of another writer’s work. 
4. There is no limit to the number of entries.
5. Poems should be entered online and must be accompanied by payment of £7 for each poem entered
6. The online submission site will ask you to select OPEN if your entry is in the international open category. 
7. The writer’s name should not appear in the text box for your poem(s). 
8. No poem may win more than one prize. 
9. Proof of Health Profession-related employment or health student status will be required from winners in the Health Professional category.
10. Your poem entry with its title should be on a separate page, with Health Professional or Open noted in the top right corner and without details that would identify you. Address for postal submission and payments by cheque: 
11. The Hippocrates Prize judges will read a long-list prepared by filter judges, and their decision is final.
12. Short-listed poets in all categories of the Hippocrates Prize will be informed by mid-April.
13. Prize-winners will receive their awards by the end of July 2020.

Winners Announcement:

The winning, shortlisted and commended poems in the 2021 Hippocrates Young Poets Prize will be published in the annual Hippocrates Prize Anthology. The 2021 Hippocrates Prize Anthology will be launched at the Hippocrates Awards ceremony on 21st May 2021
