<p dir="ltr">The United Nations ,in cooperation with the Peace Advocacy and Sustainable Development Outreach organization (<a href="https://www.onlinevolunteering.org/en/pasdo">PASDO</a>), is offering a <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Volunteer-Work">volunteer opportunity</a> in Fundraising to help Nigerians suffering food shortages and hardships due to COVID-19. The UNV is looking for volunteers (UNVs) that can help raise funds for the organization to use in helping Nigerians who, by virtue of the widespread lock-downs that have completely crippled their daily income, are suffering economic hardships and are increasingly facing acute shortages of foodstuff, water, soaps and other basic needs.&nbsp;</p><h3 dir="ltr">Background and Objectives:-</h3><ul><li dir="ltr">As coronavirus (COVID-19) finds its way into Africa&#39;s most populous country, Nigeria, the governments at the federal and state levels have imposed lock-downs in a bid to curb its spread and minimize casualty.&nbsp;</li><li dir="ltr">These lock-downs, which have only lasted for a few days, are beginning to have serious economic and food-security implications in a country where a vast majority of the population depend on daily wages to feed and cater for very basic needs.&nbsp;</li><li dir="ltr">An increasing number of people are now being faced with making a decision between staying at home to die of hunger or risking contracting the virus by going out to work for food and damning the consequences on themselves and on the larger society.&nbsp;</li><li dir="ltr">PASDO, under its Coronavirus (COVID-19) Crisis Response Program for Nigeria (CCRPN), is leading efforts to provide struggling families and individuals with food and other basic needs, which is one of the most practical ways to keep them at home in order to control the spread of the virus.</li></ul><h3 dir="ltr">Tasks:-</h3><ul><li dir="ltr">The UNVs will have to lead research and identify potential individual and institutional donors and then work with the organization to reach them. Where necessary, the UNV will need to prepare write-ups and applications as well as deploy other online strategies for fundraising.&nbsp;</li><li dir="ltr">The volunteer may have experience in soliciting donations (preferable), should be able to think up strategies, create catchy marketing materials and should have good writing skills needed to run fundraiser campaigns.</li><li dir="ltr">Before applying, UNV should read up important information on the PASDO <a href="https://www.pasdo.org/get-involved/volunteer-with-pasdo/#fv">website</a>.</li></ul><h3 dir="ltr">Requirements:-</h3><ul><li dir="ltr">The UNV should::&nbsp;<ul><li dir="ltr">Have experience in soliciting donations.&nbsp;</li><li dir="ltr">Have the ability to create catchy marketing materials.</li><li dir="ltr">Possess good writing skills needed to run fundraiser campaigns.&nbsp;</li><li dir="ltr">The UNV must have the ability to provide PASDO with regular updates via emails and instant messaging apps like WhatsApp or WeChat, hence full contact details should be provided. &nbsp;</li><li dir="ltr">Only applications in English language will be considered.&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li dir="ltr">You should be good at English.</li></ul><h3 dir="ltr">Conditions:-</h3><ul><li dir="ltr">By registering, you accept that you do not make any financial claims to organizations or to UNV.</li><li dir="ltr">You could check the&nbsp;<a href="https://www-stage.onlinevolunteering.org/en/copyright-and-terms-use">Terms of Use</a> for more about standards of conduct and the conditions for using this platform.</li><li dir="ltr">You will need to work 11-20 hours per week for 4 weeks.</li><li dir="ltr">The UNV needs 15 volunteers for the program.</li></ul><h3 dir="ltr">About UN Volunteers:-</h3><p dir="ltr">The United Nations Volunteers programme is a United Nations organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide.
