Opportunity description
European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is offering a Volunteer opportunity and is looking for 2 outgoing, openminded volunteers, who would like to work with youth, learn about different cultures, organize events, learn about the work in the youth hostel and share knowledge/experience with others (youth, guests…).
Project Description:
Idrija Youth center hosted 6 international volunteers so far. Next year they will establish MC Mobil (van with materials for youth street work) and they are also establishing Youth hostel in the same building as Idrija Youth center is. With this project, the center has two main goals. First, to enable volunteers for the (street) youth work. With MC Mobil they will get in contact with youth from different places in and around Idrija. They will be able to share and promote volunteering and international youth work in general. Since they will be driving around Idrija and surroundings, meeting new people, learning about the culture, nature, and heritage, they will be able to promote and improve the touristic offer for young tourists. The second goal relates to helping in the youth center, with new ideas to offer and by preparing entertaining activities for guests of the youth hostel, such international nights, walking tour through the eyes of the foreigner, presenting volunteering options, etc.
Funding:
The volunteers will live together in an apartment in the town of Idrija. There will be no need for a ticket for public transport, because the town is very small and it's easy to come from the apartment to the youth center walking. As far as the food is concerned, the volunteers will receive approximately 180 € per month to arrange their food. There will also be pocket money (4€/day) for them. The transportation costs will be reimbursed to up to €275 - depending on which country you come from.
Training During the Project:
There will be an on arrival and mid-term training organized by the national agency for the volunteer. There might also be a chance to join the training for street workers in October 2020.
The European Solidarity Corps:
The European Solidarity Corps is the new European Union initiative that creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad that benefit the community and people around Europe.
