Opportunity description
The Environmental Photography Award 2027 invites photographers from around the world to participate in one of the international awards dedicated to environmental and nature photography. Organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the award aims to highlight the beauty of our planet and the relationship between people and nature, while encouraging photographers to use visual storytelling to raise awareness of environmental protection.
Launched in 2021, the award is held annually. An international jury of professional photographers selects 36 finalist images to be featured in the award exhibition and annual photography book, in addition to choosing category winners and the overall grand prize winner.
Competition Categories
Applicants may enter one or more of the following categories:
Polar Regions: Wildlife and landscape photography from polar regions.
Forests: Images of plants, animals, and ecosystems found in forests.
Ocean: Photography of marine life and biodiversity beneath the ocean surface.
Changemakers: Images highlighting initiatives and individuals providing solutions for environmental protection and climate action.
Humanity vs Nature: Images documenting the negative impact of human activities on the environment, wildlife, and natural resources.
Benefits
- €5,000 grant for the Grand Prize Winner.
- Invitation to the Monaco exhibition opening, including travel and accommodation.
- €1,000 for each category winner.
- €500 for the Public Award and Student's Choice.
Eligibility criteria
- Applications are open to photographers of all nationalities.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older by November 1, 2026.
No membership in any organization, association, or institution is required.
All submitted photographs must be entirely the applicant’s own work.
Image Requirements
Photographs must have been taken within the past five years, meaning on or after September 1, 2021.
Images that have previously won national or international photography competitions may still be submitted.
Applicants may submit up to 5 images per category, with a maximum of 25 images in total.
Images must not contain watermarks, text, logos, or borders.
The original camera metadata must be retained.
The minimum image size is 3000 pixels on the shortest side.
It is recommended to submit images in high-quality JPEG format at 300 dpi.
