Opportunity description

The University of Waikato in New Zealand has opened applications for a funded PhD project titled Fit-for-All Military Footwear for Injury Prevention and NZDF Readiness, which focuses on developing and improving military footwear to reduce injuries and enhance the performance and operational readiness of New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) personnel.

This opportunity is one of the funded PhD scholarships in New Zealand, with the selected candidate receiving funding of up to NZD 33,000 per year for up to 36 months, in addition to coverage of tuition fees at the domestic rate and student services fees.

Eligibility criteria

  • Hold a research-based Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
  • Have a qualification in one of the following fields or a related discipline:
    • Sport Science.
    • Engineering.
    • Kinesiology.
    • Exercise Physiology.
    • Physiotherapy.
  • Have an expected academic grade equivalent to A- or higher.
  • Be prepared to study full-time.
  • Be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Applications are open to both domestic and international students.
  • Be prepared to study primarily at the Tauranga campus.
  • Be willing to participate in industry-related work or training periods in Waiouru and Palmerston North.
