Eligibility Categories
1. Graduate Student Fellowship

- Be officially enrolled in a graduate degree programme at a degree-granting institution.

This category may include Master’s students and some PhD students who have not yet formally advanced to doctoral candidacy.
2. Predoctoral Fellowship
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled as a candidate for a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree.
- Have approval from their university to conduct dissertation research at the Smithsonian.
- Have completed all doctoral requirements except the dissertation before the fellowship begins.
3. Postdoctoral Fellowship
Applicants must have completed their PhD before the fellowship begins.
