Opportunity description

ASPEm, in cooperation with Association ISSAAF JERADA for Solidarity and Development, is offering a funded volunteering opportunity in Jerada, Morocco, under the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) humanitarian volunteering track.

The volunteer will work with children and young people, with a focus on civic participation, rights, democracy, equality, cultural diversity, tolerance, peace, gender issues, and combating violence. Volunteers will also help organize educational and recreational activities for children and adolescents facing difficult circumstances, with a commitment of 32 hours per week.

Activities include organizing workshops in games, arts, theatre, digital skills, drawing, cinema, sports, and languages, as well as supporting children with learning difficulties and carrying out extracurricular activities in nearby schools and youth centers.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Support the activities of Association ISSAAF JERADA aimed at children and young people.
  • Contribute to strengthening youth civic participation and encouraging active engagement in public life.
  • Participate in training activities on children’s, women’s, and youth rights, democracy, equality, cultural diversity, tolerance, peace, gender issues, and combating violence.
  • Organize workshops and activities for children and adolescents, including games, arts, drawing, theatre, cinema, sports, languages, and digital skills.
  • Support children facing learning difficulties and participate in dedicated support spaces.
  • Develop and implement extracurricular activities in schools near the association’s headquarters.
  • Participate in activities and programmes offered through youth centers.
  • Contribute to programmes aimed at promoting the personal development and well-being of children and young people.
  • Work as part of the association’s team and contribute creative ideas to improve educational and recreational activities.
  • Commit to working 32 hours per week, excluding travel time.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Applicants must be residents of one of the eligible countries: EU Member States, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Türkiye.
  • Have appropriate language skills for communication and work.
  • Have an interest in working with children and adolescents, especially in vulnerable contexts.
  • Be interested in social issues such as human rights, gender, children, and youth.
  • Have good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrate creativity and initiative in organizing educational, artistic, sports, and digital activities.
  • Be able to adapt to a new environment and culture.
  • Have an interest in non-formal education and intercultural learning.
  • Previous volunteering experience or work with associations is considered an advantage, but is not required.
  • Complete the mandatory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering Training before participation.
  • Applicants must not have previously participated in Individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering.
  • The total duration of participation in European volunteering programmes, including this opportunity, must not exceed 12 months.
