The Kristiansand International Children’s Film Festival (BFF) has announced the opening of film submissions for its 30th edition, which will take place in Southern Norway from April 18 to 23, 2027.
The festival accepts short films, feature films, and documentaries from around the world, including both live-action and animated productions. Submitted films must be suitable for children and young people aged 3 to 19, and their first official screening must have taken place after January 1, 2026.
Participation gives filmmakers the opportunity to present their work to an audience of children, young people, and film industry professionals, while competing in several international and European competitions. It is also one of the diverse opportunities available in the film sector, offering a space for cultural and artistic exchange and networking with directors, producers, and distributors from different countries. However, it is not classified as an academic fellowship or a fully funded opportunity.

Eligibility criteria
International film submissions must meet the following requirements:
- The film must be a short film, feature film, or documentary.
- It must be suitable for children or young audiences.
- Its first official screening must have taken place after January 1, 2026.
- International short films must not exceed 30 minutes, according to the main call page.
- Feature films and feature-length documentaries must be longer than 60 minutes.
- An online or downloadable screening copy must be provided.
- The screening copy must include English subtitles.
- The applicant must be authorized to grant the festival screening rights if the film is selected.
- Complete information about the director, producer, production company, and rights ownership must be submitted.
