Opportunity description

The National Poetry Competition is an annual poetry prize organized by the UK-based Poetry Society. The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over, and international entries are welcome. All poems must have a title and must not exceed 40 lines in length (excluding the title). Entries must be written in English and can be on any subject. Entries must not have been published. The entry fees are £8 for the first poem submitted and £6 for subsequent entries in the same submission. Prizes include a £5,000 first prize, a £3,000 second prize, a £2,000 third prize, and £500 commended prizes.
