HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands offers the HAN NL Scholarship to academically outstanding international students who wish to pursue a full English-taught bachelor’s or master’s degree programme. It is considered one of the notable partially funded bachelor’s and master’s scholarships in the Netherlands for international students.
The scholarship primarily targets students from countries outside the European Union and European Economic Area and helps cover part of their tuition fees during their studies. Applicants must first secure admission to an eligible degree programme at HAN University before they can be invited to apply for the scholarship.
Benefits
The HAN NL Scholarship provides a total award of up to €12,500, distributed as follows:
- €2,500 in the first semester.
- €2,500 in the second semester.
- €2,500 in the second academic year.
- €2,500 in the third academic year.
- €2,500 in the fourth academic year.
Continued receipt of the scholarship in subsequent years depends on meeting the required academic progress criteria, including earning a sufficient number of study credits.
For Master’s Students
The scholarship provides a total award of €5,000, paid in two instalments:
- €2,500 in the first semester.
- €2,500 in the second semester.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be citizens of a country outside the European Union and European Economic Area, excluding Suriname.
- Be required to pay the institutional tuition fees applicable to international students.
- Not hold a degree from an educational institution in the Netherlands.
- Not have previously enrolled in a degree programme at a Dutch research university or university of applied sciences.
- Have been admitted to a full-time, English-taught bachelor’s or master’s degree programme at HAN University of Applied Sciences.
- Meet all academic admission and language requirements for the selected programme.
- Demonstrate strong academic performance and the ability to succeed in the chosen degree programme.
Conditions for Continuing the Bachelor’s Scholarship
To receive scholarship payments in subsequent academic years, students must:
- Successfully complete the first year and obtain the first-year certificate or its equivalent.
- Earn at least 45 study credits in each subsequent academic year.
- Not receive another HAN NL Scholarship covering the same study period.
