Opportunity description

Action Lab For Development Association in Canada is offering two remote volunteering opportunities to support the development of the user experience and user interface design (UX/UI) for MoralityCode Mobile App – Version 2, an innovative application designed to help users navigate complex ethical situations and decisions by combining moral philosophy, emotional intelligence, cultural anthropology, and health and well-being related models.

The application is already live and currently in use. This phase focuses on improving and refining the existing design rather than building the app from scratch. The work will include enhancing user flows, in-app navigation, visual design, accessibility, and the overall user experience for diverse audiences around the world.

A total of two volunteers will be selected. Each volunteer will focus on a specific area of the application’s development: one on User Experience (UX) and the other on User Interface (UI) Design.

The opportunity is fully online and lasts for 12 weeks, with an expected commitment of approximately 6 to 10 hours per week.

Benefits of the Volunteering Opportunity

Through this opportunity, volunteers will have the chance to:

  • Contribute to the development of the second version of an existing technology application that is already available to users.
  • Gain practical experience in improving and developing mobile applications.
  • Work on a project that combines technology, emotional intelligence, ethics, and cultural diversity.
  • Develop hands-on experience in UX/UI Design within an international project.
  • Apply user experience or interface design skills to real-world use cases.
  • Collaborate with application developers and AI specialists working on the project.
  • Develop prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity designs that can add value to their professional portfolio.
  • Work fully remotely for 12 weeks.
  • Contribute to a project aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
  • Gain international volunteering experience through the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program.

Duties & responsibilities

Responsibilities will be divided between the two volunteers according to their area of specialization:
