The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has opened applications for an online volunteering opportunity titled Support the Editing and Proofreading of Climate Promise Website Content in French, for a duration of 4 weeks and a commitment of 11 to 15 hours per week.
This opportunity gives volunteers the chance to gain practical experience with the United Nations Development Programme and contribute to content related to climate change and climate action on UNDP’s Climate Promise website.
The volunteer will review and edit content translated from English into French, ensuring its accuracy, clarity, and stylistic consistency before publication, in collaboration with the UNDP Climate Hub team and relevant country offices.

Duties & responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the volunteer include:
- Editing and proofreading content written in French.
- Reviewing grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall language quality.
- Ensuring consistency in terminology, style, and formatting across all materials.
- Reviewing content for clarity, coherence, and logical flow, and suggesting improvements where needed.
- Ensuring that references, footnotes, and appendices are formatted correctly.
- Coordinating with the team to maintain consistent editorial standards.
- Communicating with the UNDP Climate Hub team and country offices to clarify content and address feedback.
- Preparing final versions for publication in accordance with UNDP guidelines and standards.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants are preferably expected to have:
- Native-level proficiency in French.
- Native-level proficiency in English.
- A strong understanding of climate change and climate action issues.
- Previous experience translating or reviewing content related to development, humanitarian work, the environment, or climate.
- The ability to deliver high-quality work within short deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and linguistic and stylistic consistency.
- The ability to work with lengthy documents and maintain consistency across multilingual versions.
- Familiarity with UNDP editorial and publishing standards is considered an advantage.
