Opportunity description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through its Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD), has announced an online volunteering opportunity for 2026 in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and smart climate monitoring systems. The opportunity aims to support the training of participants in the Future Tech Leaders Syria program over a period of 8 weeks.

The opportunity focuses on developing and delivering an advanced online training course consisting of 8 live sessions covering climate monitoring systems, environmental sensors, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi platforms, data analysis using Python, and AI applications for anomaly detection and data prediction.

The volunteer will be responsible for developing educational materials and practical exercises, delivering one training session per week, and preparing a mock exam to help participants prepare for professional certification exams in the Internet of Things.

Duties & responsibilities

The volunteer will be responsible for:

  • Preparing 8 educational presentations accompanied by practical exercises.

  • Developing training content aligned with the topics covered in professional Internet of Things (IoT) certification exams.

  • Delivering 8 live online lectures, at a rate of one lecture per week.

  • Conducting practical demonstrations using sensors, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi platforms.

  • Explaining Python applications in data collection and analysis.

  • Demonstrating how machine learning techniques are used to analyze sensor data.

  • Preparing a mock exam and reviewing it with participants during the final lecture.

  • Answering trainees' questions during sessions and following up on inquiries afterward.

  • Preparing brief documentation of the training materials and participants' progress.

  • Coordinating with the program's supervising team to ensure that the learning objectives are achieved.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Have practical experience in building integrated Internet of Things (IoT) systems, from sensors to data collection and visualization.
  • Have experience applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to sensor data and time-series data.
  • Be proficient in Python programming.
  • Have knowledge of IoT communication protocols and data processing pipelines.
  • Have previous experience in teaching or delivering training programs.
  • Be able to develop technical educational content and conduct practical online training sessions.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • The following qualifications are considered additional advantages:
  • A master's degree in a relevant field.
  • A professional certification specializing in the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Proficiency in Arabic or Turkish.
