Social Design Competition 2026 with Awards of up to EUR 2,500

SPIEGEL WISSEN, in cooperation with BAUHAUS, announces the opening of applications for the Social Design Award 2026, an international competition open to projects that use design to strengthen social connection and build bridges between different groups in society.

This year’s edition is held under the theme “We create connections” and focuses on ideas and projects that promote interaction and solidarity among people, such as connecting young people with older adults, linking different social groups, or bringing together road users.

• Opportunity to participate in an international competition specialized in social design.
• The winner of the Jury Award receives EUR 2,500.
• The winner of the Public Award receives EUR 2,500.
• Selected projects will be showcased to a wide audience of SPIEGEL readers.
• Opportunity to highlight your project as a design solution that contributes to improving social relationships.
• Winners will be announced on November 6, 2026, through SPIEGEL WISSEN and SPIEGEL.de.

• The competition is open internationally.
• Designers, architects, artists, and students may apply.
• Individuals or multidisciplinary teams may apply.
• The project must be in the field of social design.
• The project must address the theme of social connection or forms of community communication.
