The National University of Singapore (NUS) offers international students the opportunity to pursue a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs at one of Asia’s leading research universities. The university welcomes applicants with international school and university qualifications, including students from Arab countries, provided they meet the requirements of their chosen program and the academic qualification through which they are applying.

NUS offers programs across a broad range of fields, including business administration, computing, engineering and design, humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, law, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, music, architecture, and more. The university also provides flexible academic pathways, including minors, double-degree programs, joint degrees with partner universities, and integrated programs combining bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

What Are the University’s Admission Requirements?

Applicants are generally required to:

  • Hold a recognized secondary school qualification when applying for undergraduate study.
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance in subjects related to the chosen program.
  • Meet the program’s prerequisite requirements, such as mathematics or science for certain majors.
  • Submit standardized test results, such as the SAT, ACT, or Advanced Placement examinations, when required for the applicant’s qualification type.
  • Provide proof of English language proficiency when required.
  • Upload academic certificates, transcripts, and supporting documents through the application portal.
  • Complete any tests, interviews, or portfolio requirements for selected programs, such as architecture, music, and medicine.
  • Pay the application fee before the deadline.

Program Structure

The structure of academic programs at the National University of Singapore varies according to the degree level, faculty, and chosen field of study. Therefore, there is no single structure that applies to all programs.

Undergraduate programs generally follow an academic credit system and include general education requirements, core courses for the major, elective courses, and applied or research-based projects. Students may also have the option to pursue a minor or enroll in a double, joint, or concurrent degree program.

Master’s programs may be coursework-based or research-based. Depending on the nature of the program, they may include compulsory and elective courses, applied projects, professional training, or a research thesis.

Doctoral programs are primarily based on independent research and the preparation of an academic dissertation under faculty supervision.

Tuition Fees

Annual tuition fees vary depending on the faculty, program, and whether the student receives the MOE Tuition Grant offered by Singapore’s Ministry of Education.

For international students from outside ASEAN countries admitted in the 2026/2027 academic year, annual tuition fees after receiving the MOE Tuition Grant generally range from:

SGD 21,400 to SGD 87,800 per year

Without the MOE Tuition Grant, annual tuition fees generally range from:

SGD 33,400 to SGD 190,150 per year

Tuition fees for medicine, dentistry, and music are usually higher than those for business administration, computing, engineering, and the humanities. The published fees cover Semesters 1 and 2 and are paid in two equal instalments at the beginning of each semester.

The undergraduate application fee for international students applying with international qualifications is SGD 20 and is non-refundable.
