Awesome Without Borders is a program of the Harnisch Foundation that offers no-strings-attached micro-<a href="https://www.for9a.com/opportunity/category/%D9%85%D9%86%D8%AD-%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A9" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">grants</a> to boost brilliant ideas at a critical time during the project development. It is one of the 100+ chapters in the Awesome Foundation network, but Awesome Without Borders funding comes from the Harnisch Foundation. The Harnisch Foundation is not accepting unsolicited grant applications currently with the exception of Awesome Without Borders.The Awesome Foundation chapters distribute a series of monthly $1,000 grants to projects and their creators. The chapters are autonomous and organized by the trustees around geographic areas or topics of interest. The money is pooled together from self-organizing “micro-trustees” and given upfront in cash or check to advance more awesome in the universe. The chapters provide these no strings attached grants and claim no ownership over the projects it supports. It is, in the words of one of the trustees, a micro-genius grant for flashes of micro-brilliance. To date, 106 chapters have been established in over 25 countries with over $1.2M projects funded.<h3>Eligibility Criteria:</h3>Awesome Without Borders (AWB) does not award grants for payments to individuals, travel expenses (food, travel, lodging, etc), or religious-affiliated projects, and usually declines grant requests from large non-profits with substantial budgets or for-profit projects. While the AWB program supports all creative and zany ideas, more than 80% of the grants in the past year have gone to women-led initiatives and priority is given to projects that overlap with the Harnisch Foundation focus areas such as media activism, leadership development, and intersectionality.The Awesome Without Borders initiative will not assess the basis of the application on whether or not the applicant or his project are recognized as a nonprofit or 501c3 or are based in the <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/country/United-States" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">USA</a> or internationally. Awards to those who are outside of the USA and/or not 501c3 organizations will come from AWB chapter founder’s private funds and NOT from The Harnisch Foundation.<h3>About Awesome Foundation:</h3>The Awesome Foundation for the arts and sciences is an international network of autonomous chapters of philanthropists that provide small grants for projects to "people devoted to forwarding the interest of awesomeness in the universe."&nbsp;Most chapters consist of ten trustees who pool contributions in a crowd-funding model and award a $1,000 grant each month to a project and person of their choice.
