CHD Living Care has announced a volunteering opportunity as part of the ‘Adopt a Grandparent’ campaign, which aims to reduce loneliness among the elderly, especially those who do not receive regular visitors. The volunteer will be connected to an elderly person with the same interests. He will talk to him via phone/video calls - much like a penpal!
Volunteer Tasks:
These are some of the ways in which you can help:
- Having phone calls/video calls with your new friend.
- Sending cheerful pictures/stories/poems (post or email) for them to enjoy.
- Sharing stories from different generations
- Sending letters/postcards to your new friend, much like a penpal!
Benefits:

- Onboarding packs, including branded posters to display in your home(s) encouraging more residents to get involved.
- “volunteer cards” and “resident cards” for those that have been paired, sharing information between new companions.
