Opportunity description

The FAO elearning Academy of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) invites young people from around the world to participate in the Global Youth Contest 2026: From Learning to Impact. This global opportunity allows young learners to share their stories about how they benefited from the Academy’s courses and transformed what they learned into practical impact in their studies, work, or communities.

The contest aims to highlight inspiring youth stories in the fields of education, development, agrifood systems, and sustainability, while encouraging learners to apply the knowledge gained from FAO elearning Academy courses to create positive change.

Benefits

  • Three winners will be selected from among the participants.
  • Winners will receive a fully funded trip to Rome, Italy.
  • Winners will attend the World Food Forum 2026 from October 12 to 15, 2026.
  • Travel and participation costs will be covered for the winners.
  • Winners will be invited to take part in a video interview to be published on the FAO elearning Academy website and FAO digital channels.
  • An opportunity to gain global visibility and share their learning and impact story with an international audience.
  • An opportunity to join a global dialogue on education and sustainable agrifood systems.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants may apply if they meet the following requirements:
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Applicants may be from any country or region around the world.
  • Applicants must be registered on the FAO elearning Academy platform.
  • Applicants must have completed courses from the FAO elearning Academy.
  • Applicants must have earned Certified Digital Badges from the Academy.
  • Applicants must explain how learning contributed to developing their knowledge, skills, studies, career path, or community impact.
  • Selected winners must have a valid passport until at least April 2027.

Participation Requirements

  • The story must be submitted in English only.
  • The impact story text must not exceed 4,000 characters.
  • Applicants must use the same email address registered in their FAO elearning Academy account to facilitate verification of their digital badges.
  • Only one application is allowed per participant.
  • The use of AI tools to generate application answers is prohibited and may lead to immediate disqualification.
