The University of São Paulo in Brazil is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in medical mycology and histoplasmosis. The fellowship is offered within a research project aimed at developing a specialized knowledge ecosystem for the study of endemic fungal diseases through collaboration among an international and multidisciplinary team of researchers and experts.
The selected researcher will work within the Center for Medical Mycology in Latin America (CMM LATAM). Research activities will be conducted primarily at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) and the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (ICB-USP).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and conduct in vivo and in vitro laboratory experiments.
- Study interactions between hosts and pathogens.
- Provide scientific support to postgraduate students in experimental planning.
- Contribute to research projects conducted by the Center for Medical Mycology in Latin America.
- Analyze research findings and prepare them for publication.
- Publish findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Present research results at national and international conferences and scientific events.
- Independently manage research activities and projects.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Have obtained a PhD within the past seven years.
- Hold a PhD in one of the following fields:
- Biological Sciences.
- Microbiology and Immunology.
- Biochemistry.
- Molecular Biology.
- A related discipline.
- Have strong experience in laboratory research involving host–pathogen interactions.
- Have experience with in vivo and in vitro experimental models.
- Be familiar with genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology techniques.
- Have experience in characterizing virulence factors.
- Be able to manage research projects independently.
- Demonstrate leadership skills.
- Have sufficient English proficiency to collaborate with international researchers.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge or experience in:
- Medical mycology.
- Endemic fungi and fungal diseases.
- Infectious diseases.
- Bioinformatics.
- Biostatistics.
- Data analysis.
