The Knight-Hennessy Scholars Fellowship at Stanford University opens applications for students and leaders from around the world to join the 2027 cohort. The fellowship allows outstanding candidates to pursue a full-time graduate degree program at Stanford, such as a master’s, PhD, MBA, JD, MD, MFA, MS, MA, MPP, and others, alongside a comprehensive leadership program focused on independent thinking, purposeful leadership, and service to society.
Applicants must submit two separate applications: the Knight-Hennessy Scholars application and the application for admission to their chosen graduate program at Stanford University.

- A living and academic stipend that covers housing, food, books, academic materials, local transportation, and reasonable personal expenses.
- An annual travel stipend to cover an economy-class ticket to and from Stanford.
- A one-time relocation stipend for new students to help with moving costs or the purchase of technology equipment.
- Possibility of receiving additional funding in the second and third years to support academic activities, such as travel to conferences.
- The fellowship provides funding for up to 3 years, depending on the academic program.
Eligibility criteria
- Applications are open to applicants from all countries, with no restrictions on nationality, age, university, field of study, or career path.
- Applicants must apply to and be accepted into a full-time graduate degree program at Stanford University.
- Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in January 2020 or later to join the 2027 cohort.
- Current students in their final year of undergraduate study are eligible if they will receive their first degree before September 2027.
- For applicants who have completed military service, the eligibility window is extended by 2 additional years, meaning they may have earned their bachelor’s degree in January 2018 or later.
- Applicants must demonstrate qualities such as independent thinking, purposeful leadership, civic mindset, integrity, service to others, and the ability to create positive impact.
