Princeton University in the United States, through the Lewis Center for the Arts, has opened applications for the Hodder Fellowship 2027–2028, one of the funded international arts fellowships designed for artists and creative practitioners with exceptional potential who wish to dedicate an academic year to developing a new and independent artistic project.
The fellowship lasts for 10 months, during which selected participants serve as Visiting Fellows at Princeton University. There are no formal teaching requirements, allowing fellows to focus primarily on developing their projects and artistic practice. Each fellow receives a USD 93,000 stipend, in addition to USD 5,000 in research funding.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants may apply if they:
- Are an artist or creative practitioner with exceptional artistic talent and potential.
- Work in one of the eligible fields offered for the 2027–2028 cycle.
- Wish to develop a significant independent project during the fellowship year.
- Are from any nationality worldwide; U.S. citizenship is not required.
- Are able to legally reside and work in the United States during the fellowship period.
- Are not required to hold a Master’s degree, PhD, or any other advanced academic degree.
- There is no age limit for applying.
Applicants should also note the following:
- The fellowship cannot be used to fund study leading to an MFA, PhD, or any other advanced academic degree.
- Previous recipients of the Princeton Arts Fellowship are not eligible to apply.
- Hodder Fellows may not hold a simultaneous teaching position at another institution during the fellowship.
- Beginning with the 2026 cycle, applicants may apply for the Hodder Fellowship only twice in their lifetime.
