The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has opened applications for the 2027 AAAS Annual Meeting Travel Awards, which are designed to support students, researchers, and early-career professionals in attending the AAAS Annual Meeting in Chicago, United States, from February 18 to 20, 2027.
The annual meeting brings together leading scientists, engineers, policymakers, science communication professionals, and leaders from different sectors to discuss the role of science and evidence in decision-making, public policy, and society, while also providing opportunities to build international professional and scientific networks. The theme of the 2027 meeting is Science Forward: Policy and Engagement for a Changing World.
The travel awards provide financial support of up to USD 1,600 to reimburse eligible actual travel and accommodation expenses after attending the conference, in addition to complimentary registration for the annual meeting and other benefits for selected recipients.

Award recipients receive:
- Reimbursement of up to USD 1,600 for eligible travel and accommodation expenses.
- Reimbursement may cover actual costs for:
- Airfare or train tickets.
- A hotel room at the AAAS negotiated rate for up to 3 nights.
- Complimentary full registration for the AAAS Annual Meeting.
- An invitation to attend the Shirley M. Malcom Breakfast for STEMM Equity during the conference.
- Recognition of award recipients in AAAS publications and announcements.
- An award certificate presented during the annual meeting.
Eligibility criteria
