Opportunity description
UN Volunteers offers a volunteer opportunity in Yemen for the position of the security-logistic officer. This volunteer is expected to start on 01/04/2023 for 6 months with the possibility of an extension. You will mainly assist in the day-to-day management, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of UN-Habitat’s project.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Security key functions:
- Assists in maintaining the Security Plan, including updating staff lists.
- Organizes and delivers training courses on security awareness and preparedness.
- Assists in ensuring residential (Minimum Operating Residential Security Standards – MORSS) and office safety, and security preparedness.
- Liaises and coordinates, as appropriate, with the host government security organizations and/or personnel.
- Communicates information on security to the heads of United Nations agencies and provides host country security advice to UNDSS in the absence of the SA, as required.
- Maintains regular contacts with Security Focal Points of UN agencies.
- Establishes and maintains warden system and keeps updated of information related to UN-Habitat offices and residences.
- Administers a pass and ID system.
- Logistics/Events Management key functions:
- Prepare the MSCR (mission security clearance request) to apply for SSI-OPS DSS for red zone missions.
- Prepare MoPs (Movement of Personnel) for staff/Consultants traveling on mission/R&R.
- Prepare Monthly travel plan by coordinating with all program employees.
- Fully responsible on managing all types of events (DSA, Avenue, translation…etc) by coordinating with other focal points for support.
- Create Index numbers and Mini masters in UMOJA for the participants.
- Obtaining visas for newcomers to Yemen in addition to Residency Office to apply for the Multi Residency Permit.
- Performs other duties as required.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- 3 years of experience in security-related fields.
- Experience in coordination, liaison, information security collection, and analysis.
- Experience from working in humanitarian context.
- Relevant technical-security courses.
- Excellent command of English and Arabic, both oral and written.
- Adaptability and Flexibility.
- Building trust and commitment to continuous.
- Planning and organizing skills and respect for diversity.
- Self-Management vision and working in teams.
- Professionalism and Integrity.
- Be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
- Be aged 27 - 80.
- Secondary education level.
