Opportunity description

UN Volunteers platform is offering an online volunteer opportunity, at WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger, Brazil to do Simultaneous translation via the zoom platform - Portuguese/English.

Volunteer duration and working hours:

1 - 5 hours per week for 12 weeks.

Duties & responsibilities

We are seeking volunteers to work as simultaneous interpreters in technical meetings about international purchases, held via the Zoom platform. Fluency in the required languages (e.g., Portuguese and English / Portuguese and English) is required, along with previous experience in simultaneous interpretation for technical and commercial meetings, and availability according to the meeting schedule, which will primarily take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, with prior notice.

Eligibility criteria

  • Education: Be enrolled in a recognized university in the area of Languages, Translation, or present a recognized International Certification such as TOEFL or IELTS.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Experience utilizing computers, including word processing and spreadsheets. 
  • Ability to work with deadlines, good communication skills, and good time management. Languages: 
  • Fluency in oral and written communication in Portuguese and English
