Opportunity description
The Women for Africa Foundation (FMxA) offers a fellowship opportunity for female researchers through the launching of the 7th Edition of the SCIENCE BY WOMEN program. This fellowship aims to promote African women’s leadership in scientific research and technology transfer and to foster the capacity of the research centers in their home countries. The main goal is to enable African women researchers and scientists to tackle the great challenges faced by Africa through research in health and biomedicine, sustainable agriculture and food security, water, energy, and climate change.
Benefits
If you get this fellowship, you will have:
- Return flight from their center of origin to the host institution.
- Living allowance of 2.400 Euros grosses per month to cover:
- Accommodation.
- Personal expense.
- Health and occupational accident insurance coverage.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- Nationality of an African country.
- PhD with at least 3 years of post-doctoral professional experience.
- A contractual relationship with a university or a public or private organization based in Africa is dedicated to scientific research.
- Excellent academic record and a proven track of relevant research experience.
- Solid working knowledge of English
- Proven experience leading a research group.
- Beneficiaries of previous editions are not eligible.
- The duration of the research stays will be of six continuous months to be completed within two years from the publication of the final selection of beneficiaries.
- You must not be beneficiaries of any other fellowship, grant, stipend, or regular income during your research stay.
Selection Criteria:
You will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Your research career, curriculum vitae, and experience as an independent research group leader.
- The project’s scientific-technical quality and innovative potential.
- The expected and measurable economic or social impact of the research project.
- Your plan to communicate and disseminate the project’s results.
About Mujeres Por África:
The Mujeres Por Africa Foundation is a private non-profit organization created in 2012 by María Teresa Fernández de la Vega, former vice president of the Government of Spain. Its main objective is to contribute to the development of the African continent through the support and accompaniment of its women, who constitute its great engine of progress. It works on its own programs and through strategic alliances or collaborations with other organizations that share this objective, always having the contribution of social value and innovation as a key element.
