Future Learn is offering beginners of German the opportunity to join a free online course called “German at Work Post-Beginners 1”, to develop their understanding of the German language and consolidate their communication skills for the workplace. Language skills are vital in our interconnected economies. People who use their knowledge of other languages and cultures in the workplace can open up professional opportunities, and German is the most widely spoken native language in Europe, as German-speaking countries benefit from strong economies and low unemployment. This course will help you to consolidate your German communication skills for the workplace by focusing on practical language use. You’ll develop your linguistic competence (at level A1/A2) and deepen your cultural understanding, as this course is designed for people who already know some German, for example from school or evening classes. This course will last for 4 weeks, with an effort of 5 hours weekly.

Topics Covered:

  1. Meeting people.
  2. Talking about numbers, dates and times.
  3. Transport and travel arrangements.
  4. Work and leisure.

Outputs

By the end of the course, you'll be able to:

  1. Apply intercultural communication skills, for example, using formal and informal language appropriately.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of basic spoken and written German, for example, conversations and emails.
  3. Contribute in German in a range of work-related situations.
  4. Apply vocabulary, phrases and grammatical structures accurately.
