Opportunity description
The Hague Academy for Local Governance offers a number of scholarships that are awarded under the title; Orange Knowledge Program. This program is to contribute to society’s sustainable and inclusive development by strengthening the skills and knowledge of both individuals, groups of individuals, and organizations. The key priorities for the program are Food and Nutrition Security; Water, Energy, and Climate; Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights; and Security and the Rule of Law. Cross-cutting themes relevant to all activities of the program include Private Sector Development, Climate, and Inclusion of Women, and Marginalized Groups.
Benefits
The scholarship is a contribution towards the costs of the course or program and covers costs as fixed reimbursements to:
- the first academic year only in master’s degree programs(in the case of programs that are longer than 1 year).
- subsistence allowance, and study materials.
- arranging health insurance and housing.
Eligibility criteria
You should meet the following criteria:
- You are a national of, and working in one of the eligible countries.
- You are not employed by an organization that has its own means of staff development. E.g. international development organizations or private companies.
- You have a minimum of two years of work experience.
- You speak and understand the English language well (all programs are in English).
- You have written support from your employer to participate in the program and to implement the Back Home Action Plan.
- Be full-time available to attend the course or program for which he or she applied for a scholarship.
- Extension of the scholarship is not possible.
- The scholarship is only intended for the duration of the short course or the first academic year of the Master’s program for which the scholarship holder has been selected.
About the Hague Academy for Local Governance:
The Hague Academy for Local Governance was established by VNG International (the international cooperation agency of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities) with support from the Municipality of The Hague. It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to strengthen local democracy worldwide by offering practice-oriented training for professionals involved in local governance and development.
