Opportunity description

OeAD is offering the Ernst Mach Follow-up (EZA) grant for former scholarship holders from non-European developing countries who are pursuing research or are teaching at a higher education institution in a developing country and already received a scholarship administered by the OeAD.

Benefits

  • Monthly grant rate: EUR 1,150.00
  • Assistance in arranging accommodation and insurance.
  • Upon request, the OeAD Housing Administration will endeavor to find accommodation (dormitory or apartment) for scholarship holders. Monthly costs: as a rule currently around EUR 250 to EUR 600 (= guideline value: depends on the comfort level of the scholarship holders). For the placement, the OeAD Housing Administration has to be paid EUR 18 per month as administrative compensation.
  • Health insurance that is valid in Austria and recognized by the Austrian authorities is required for the duration of the stay in Austria. The OeAD-GmbH can provide support in taking out adequate insurance. Monthly costs: As a rule, currently around EUR 55 to EUR 200 (guide value; depends on age, scholarship category, and state of health). The scholarship holders have to pay the costs for accommodation and insurance.
  • Persons who are not citizens of an EU / EEA country and are planning a stay of more than 6 months: If your accommodation costs in Austria exceed EUR 300 per month, you may have to provide the residence authorities with additional evidence of your own funds in order to receive the residence permit. This amount can vary depending on the individual costs for your health insurance in Austria and any other financial obligations.
  • Scholarship holders from non-European developing countries will receive an additional travel allowance of a maximum of EUR 1,000 upon presentation of original receipts.

Eligibility criteria

  • This grant is opened to postdocs who research and/or teach at a college or university in a non-European developing country and had a scholarship for Austria, which was administered by the OeAD-GmbH (formerly ÖAD).
  • When starting the scholarship, at least 5 years must have passed since the last scholarship stay or funded research stay in Austria.
  • Applicant should have a very good knowledge of English and/or German.
  • Applicants may not have studied/researched/worked scientifically in Austria in the six months before the start of the scholarship.
  • A grant can only be applied for every 5 years under this program.
  • The scholarship is only awarded for a research project that can be carried out within the applied research period (maximum 3 months).

  • Scanned passport copy (page with name and photo)
  • Proof of employment from the home institution
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Scanned copy of the university degree certificate for your PhD or doctoral studies.
