About this course:

Edx invites you to join this online free course on Design Thinking Fundamentals. This course provides an introduction to the foundational activities related to design thinking, which is a flexible, yet systematic, process used to define and solve problems. Design thinking is a strategy and mindset that can be applied to any industry to solve problems. Throughout this course, you will learn how user-centered approach and design thinking principles inspire innovative ideas to create desirable solutions.

What you'll learn:

By the end of this six weeks course, participants will be able to:

[1] Describe the systematic process to define and solve problems.

[2] Formulate ideas for problem-solving.

[3] Discuss solutions that integrate product configuration, functionality and user experience.

[4] Identify the design thinking processes and methods.

Instructors:

This course will be taught by experienced instructors from the Rochester Institute of Technology. The instructors are:

[1] Lorraine Justice: Dr. Justice is a Professor of Design, she has worked on digital media products for ten years before joining academia. She obtained her master’s degree and PhD at The Ohio State University, where she also taught Graphic Design, Industrial Design, and Design Research courses. 

[2] Dan Harel: Dan is a professional industrial and furniture designer. His 30+ years hands-on career has focused on consumer and commercial design innovation, and on research related to home and workplace of the future.
