The Goethe Institute offers a job opportunity as a qualified administration officer in charge of the administration department. The position is limited to one year with the option of renewal. The Goethe-Institute is the worldwide cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and maintain international cultural cooperation.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of application for residence and work permit for the staff of the institute
  • Cooperation with local authorities such as ministries, tax office or city administration Amman as well as the German embassy in Amman.
  • Administration of working hours (including holidays, sick leaves and public holidays) 
  • Cooperation with Social Security Corporation, in particular in cases of accidents at work and maternity leaves 
  • Collaboration with insurance companies, in particular, administration of all matters related to group health insurance 
  • Obtaining cost estimates from external service providers and preparing framework contracts 
  • Supervision of internal address distributors and forwarding of information to all employees 
  • Cooperation with the German Embassy and other German organizations in overarching administrative issues 
  • Assistance in bank matters (certifications, etc.) 
  • Assistance of the institute management as well as the direction of the management 
  • Other tasks in the area of personnel administration or internal service

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant university or vocational qualification or equivalent knowledge and skills 
  • At least three years' professional experience in comparable fields of activity and in teams 
  • Very good command of written and spoken English and Arabic 
  • German language skills are of advantage 
  • Structured and precise working method 
  • High budgetary understanding 
  • Very good knowledge of common computer programs (Excel, Word, Outlook), affinity with web application and willingness to become familiar with new relevant programs (eg MenaLite) 
  • Driver's license (type 3-1 or B) and willingness to use your car on duty 
  • Willingness to learn and readiness for further education 
  • Organizational skills, resilience, and flexibility 
  • Independent work and own initiative 
  • Friendly and confident appearance 
  • High communication and team skills 
  • Experience in customer contact and complaint management is of advantage
