Opportunity description

The University of Sydney in Australia has opened applications for the Agnes Campbell Research Scholarship, a research scholarship designed for PhD students who wish to conduct research in chemistry, with preference given to research related to organic chemistry.

The scholarship was established through the Agnes Campbell Bequest to support postgraduate students and help cover their living expenses while conducting research at the School of Chemistry within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.

The scholarship is a suitable opportunity for international students who wish to pursue a PhD in Australia and benefit from annual financial support equivalent to the University’s Research Training Program (RTP) stipend rate.

Benefits

The selected student will receive:

  • An annual living allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney’s RTP stipend rate.
  • The RTP stipend for 2026 is approximately AUD 42,754 per year.
  • Funding for up to 14 research periods, approximately 3.5 years.
  • The stipend amount is adjusted annually in line with the University’s approved RTP rate.
  • Up to 20 working days of annual leave for each year of the scholarship.
  • Up to 10 days of sick leave per year, with part of this leave potentially convertible to carer’s leave in eligible circumstances.
  • The possibility of conducting part of the research outside Australia for up to 4 research periods, subject to the required approvals.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be either a domestic or international student.
