The Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. has opened applications for its Research Fellowship 2027–2028, one of the leading funded international research fellowships for researchers, academics, journalists, policy experts, and thought leaders from around the world.
The fellowship runs for 12 months, from June 2027 through May 2028, and gives participants the opportunity to work on an independent research project directly related to public policy, international relations, and contemporary global challenges.
Each fellow receives a monthly stipend of USD 10,000 for the duration of the program, totaling up to USD 120,000 over 12 months, in addition to coverage for two program-related trips to Washington, D.C. at the beginning and end of the fellowship.

Eligibility criteria
The fellowship is open to:
- Academics and researchers.
- Public policy experts and practitioners.
- Journalists.
- Thinkers and writers specializing in public and international affairs.
- Professionals working in government or the nonprofit sector who have advanced professional experience.
For Academic Applicants
Applicants must:
- Hold a PhD degree.
- Have published a book or scholarly monograph after completing their doctoral dissertation; or
- Have a strong research record, typically including five or more publications in peer-reviewed academic journals or chapters published in peer-reviewed academic books.
