Opportunity description

The University of Melbourne offers a partially funded fellowship Program in 2023 which will be for a minimum 30 days and a maximum of 90 days. It is seeking expressions of interest for two early and mid-career researchers at the Australian Centre to collaborate on innovative research that promotes the study of Indigenous-settler relations, as well as, enhance the research profile of the Australian Centre domestically and abroad. There are currently two visiting fellowship periods open. 

  • March– July 2023
  • July – December 2023

  • AUD$5,000 (Australian-based) and AUD$9,000 (international) maximum allowance in costs towards economy-class travel and accommodation.
  • Shared office space with computer and printing facilities.
  • University of Melbourne Library borrowing privileges.

Eligibility criteria

You must have:

  • at least a higher degree or equivalent professional experience, research, and publications.
  • institutional affiliation to a university or equivalent research or cultural organization.
  • fellowships are open to Australian (non-University of Melbourne) and international researchers.

Please note: To be considered for these positions, you must ensure you have a valid visa for the duration of your visit. 

Key Activities:

  • As a Visiting Fellow, you will be engaged with research that connects with the Centre’s annual research theme (which in 2023 is Country, Climate, Colonialism). 
  • Take an active part in one or more Australian Centre projects or work to seed and develop a new project, relevant to your expertise and connections to the Centre’s annual research theme.
  • Take an active part in the academic life of the Australian Centre through participation in all-staff events and activities.
  • Provide appropriate mentoring and advice to Centre staff and graduate research students.
