The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) in Princeton, New Jersey, United States, has opened applications for membership in the School of Historical Studies for the 2027–2028 academic year. This is a funded international research opportunity for PhD holders from around the world.
The program gives researchers a fully dedicated period to develop their research projects without teaching or administrative responsibilities, while residing in Princeton and benefiting from the Institute’s extensive academic and research resources.
The School of Historical Studies supports research across a wide range of historical fields, with particular interest in the history of Western civilizations, the Near East, Asia, Islamic history, European history, art history, the history of science, East Asian studies, and music.

Eligibility criteria

- Be able to reside at IAS or in the nearby Princeton area for the duration of the membership.
