Funded Exchange Program for Science Researchers in Poland 2019

The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) invites international researchers in all fields of science to participate in the Ulam Exchange Program in Poland for 2019. The objective of the program is to help foreign researchers to develop their career by intensifying international mobility as well as allowing them to establish scientific cooperation with excellent host institutions in Poland.  Scientists may stay for 6 to 24 months, and they may be accompanied by members of their family, and in the case the program participant is a disabled person, by their assistant. Activities to be carried out during the scholarship may include:  

1. Conducting research and/or development work
2. Post-doctoral training
3. Obtaining materials for scientific work or publication
4. Conducting didactic classes at the host center

Requirements

Applicants must:

1. Be scientists with at least a doctoral degree awarded in a country other than Poland
2. Not hold Polish citizen. The condition of not being a Polish citizen does not apply to people who are Polish citizens and whose full cycle of doctoral studies abroad has been financed by the Polish government, as these people are entitled to participate in the program
3. Be employed (have a contract) at a foreign scientific/research center. The employment is not required for persons who obtained their doctoral degrees after 31 August, 2018 or completed their previous post-doctoral fellowship after 31 August, 2019
4. Did not live, study or work in Poland in the period from 1 January, 2017 until the moment of closing the call for applications and did not manage a research project carried out in Polish institutions
5. Have a minimum of 3 scientific achievements
6. Have received an invitation from the Host institution, which is the institution of the Polish science and higher education system

Benefits

The program will cover living allowance in the amount of PLN 10,000 for each month of stay at the Host institution. The amount of the living allowance of the Beneficiary may be increased if his/her spouse participates in the visit – by PLN 2,000 monthly, unless the spouse has employment in the course of the Scholarship (which means employment both under a contract of employment and under a civil law agreement). This amount may also be increased if the Beneficiary is accompanied by underage children – by PLN 1,000 monthly for each underage child. The allowance will also allow them to cover travel costs.
